Our team will provide you with brief information about the entire trekking route when you book the package and make the payment. Departing early in the morning, a public bus will take you from Kathmandu to Besisahar. Following that, you will be placed in a shared jeep and driven to your final stop for the day, Dharapani. Beautiful waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, and several suspension bridges will astound you on your Annapurna Circuit Trek Excursion. As you follow the Marsayangdi River side by side, you will travel through charming small villages like Ngadi, Bahundanda, Syange, Jagat, Chamje, and Tal before arriving at Dharapani. Travelers should register their identities and trekking permits at the police checkpoint in Dharapani.

As we reach Dharapani, we can see the environment completely changing, people and their lifestyles changing and almost nothing remains as similar to that of the Kathmandu valley. Did you know that Dharapani is famous for being the world's tallest and heaviest trident (Trishul)? So, remember to take a look at that once you reach Dharapani.

Drive Hour: 10-12 hours

  • Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
  • Accommodation: Dharapani
  • Place: Tea house / Lodge
  • Altitude: 1860 meters

After resting for the first day in Dharapani, we wake up early in the morning and have our breakfast. As the trekkers will be having breakfast, guides, and porters arrange everything to start the trekking journey towards the Annapurna Circuit. We start the expedition with a fascinating view of the Annapurna Mountain behind green valleys, forests, and hills.

Starting the Dharapani to Chame trek, we walk through the Marshyangdi river valley, which also gives stunning views panorama of unique trans-Himalayan plateaus, serene lakes, rock cliffs, rocky and uneven paths, swift rivers, waterfalls, and suspension bridges. As the path ascends, we gradually enter the exotic and remote part of the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek.

With all the amazement of nature and tradition, we reach the first checkpoint of the entire Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek. You can feel free to wander around Chame, interact with the locals, and try to understand more about their lifestyle, culture, tradition, etc.

Trekking time: 5-6 hours

  • Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
  • Accommodation: Tea house / Lodge
  • Place: Chame
  • Altitude: 2610 meters

On the third day, we again go for another fulfilling walk that takes us from Chame to Upper Pisang. Upper Pisang is the upper part of the Pisang VDC, located in the Manang District of the Annapurna region. You will love the place because of the natural scent it offers the green plants, the mountains in the backdrop, and the village settlement of the locals living there.

Starting from Chame, the trekking route takes us through a dense rhododendron and pine forest leading to a small rocky valley. A gradual and unstopped trail eventually takes us right to the front of Pangdo Danda and Swargadwari Danda. We take a moment to appreciate nature's blessing and again continue on the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek.

As we keep ascending, we will pass through different small villages like Talekhu and Bratang and finally arrive in Dhikur Pokhari. From there, the route continues towards a suspension bridge. Crossing the suspension bridge leads us to the final portion of the Chame to Upper Pisang journey of the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek. Wait! Before reaching here, did you notice all those stunning mountains like Annapurna II, Pisang Peak, Chulu Peak, and Tilicho Peak from Dhikur Pokhari?

Trekking time: 5-6 hours

  • Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
  • Accommodation: Tea house / Lodge
  • Place: Upper Pisang
  • Altitude: 3300 meters

Within three days of the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek, we have already crossed 3000 meters altitude as we reach Upper Pisang. You might be aware of the fact that there are high risks of altitude sickness as we cross the 3000-meter threshold. Therefore, we encourage trekkers to take proper care of themselves and their walk at a steady pace following every instruction given by the guide.

Many trekkers and professionals consider this one of the most difficult parts of the entire Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek. Ascending the trek takes you over several steep rocky paths and the path becomes more and more complicated with the altitude. However, you will be rewarded with the magnificent views of several snow-covered mountains. Some of the mountains that you can see from Manang are Lamjung Himal (6,983m), Annapurna II (7,937m), Annapurna IV (7,525m), Gandarbha Chuli (6,250m), and Annapurna III (7555m).

As you head upwards, the air starts becoming thinner and dry making it more difficult for the trekkers to ascend. However, this part of the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek also lets you explore and understand Buddhism as we pass through Tibetan and Buddhist settlements. Barge Monastery, the largest monastery in the entire Manang region will be the last thing we explore before reaching Manang Bazar.

Trekking time: 7-8 hours

  • Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
  • Accommodation: Tea house / Lodge
  • Place: Manang
  • Altitude: 3540 meters

We are currently at an altitude of 3540 meters and as stated above, being at the altitude over 3000 meters exposes you to the constant risk of altitude sickness. So before heading out to any higher altitude, we take a full day's rest at Manang. Remember that this full-day rest does not mean trekkers shall be sleeping or wasting the day sitting all idle. Instead, you can go for a short exploration on the rocky path with little pebbles. This path takes you to Gangapurna Lake which offers spectacular views of the surrounding environment with the blue-water lake right in front of you.

Being in the Himalayas and not watching the mountains, would that be possible? Exactly, so as you reach Gangapurna Lake, you will notice Mt. Gangapurna, Khangsar Kang, Glacial Dom, and Annapurna watching you from a distance. Besides, you can also utilize the acclimatization day by visiting the Ice Lake or the base camp. However, remember that to sleep, you must return to the lower altitude, Manang.

Trekking time: Side treks

  • Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
  • Accommodation: Tea house / Lodge
  • Place: Manang
  • Altitude: 3540 meters

With a beautiful day's rest in Manang, we take our next step towards the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek. On this day, the journey starts from Manang and ends in Yak Kharka (Yak grazing pasture) at 4120 meters. This part of the Annapurna region trek takes you through juniper forests and also offers you a magnificent view of yaks grazing in the pastures.

As we pass the Yak Kharka, we cross an old historic Mani Wall in a peaceful meadow, which takes us to a named Ledar. Accommodation for the day will be arranged in Ledar where we reach after passing a small river on a wooden bridge.

Trekking time: 3 - 4 hours

  • Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
  • Accommodation: Tea house / Lodge
  • Place: Yak Kharka
  • Altitude: 4120 meters

Today we walk from Yak Kharka to Thorung Phedi (4525m) or Thorung High Camp (4925m), which takes around 4-5 hours. However, the time taken for this trek completely depends upon the level of physical and mental strength and the weather conditions in that particular segment of the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek route. As the altitude gain is constantly increasing, trekkers can face difficulties due to more rugged terrain and severe wind. Moreover, the route leading to Thorung Phedi also has chances of snowfall making it more difficult for the trekkers. However, you will automatically be on the safe side if you listen to and follow the guides.

Remember that Thorung Phedi area does not have much of tea houses, so you might not get a chance to take a break and have some warm tea. Moreover, you also expect completely barren, rocky, and unearthly areas in the higher part of the Thorung High Camp.

Trekking time: 4-5 hours

  • Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
  • Accommodation: Tea house / Lodge
  • Place: Thorung Phedi
  • Altitude: 4525 meters

Thorung High Camp is the highest point of the entire Annapurna Circuit Budget Trekking route and all we need to do now is start a descending journey. Early in the morning, we start our downwards trek to reach Muktinath. You might have heard about Muktinath as it is one of the most sacred temples for both Hindu and Buddhist religions. Every year a lot of people from Nepal, India, and many other countries visit this temple, especially to wash their sins in the 108 Dhara (ever flowing). You can also do that once you reach Muktinath temple. This temple is located at an altitude of 3710 meters.

Furthermore, you can also watch the naturally glowing flame right above spring at the Dhola Mebar Gompa, which is also worshiped by the Nepalese as Jwalamai (Goddess of Fire). After that, you can still explore the Mustang area, try some delicacies, and then take a rest for the day.

Trekking time: 7-8 hours

  • Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
  • Accommodation: Tea house / Lodge
  • Place: Muktinath
  • Altitude: 3760 meters

Finally, our walking journey comes to an end as we drive off from Muktinath to Pokhara in a sharing jeep/local bus arranged by Adventure Bound Nepal. The distance between Muktinath and Pokhara is around 175 km, and it takes around 5 hours and 45 minutes to reach from the starting point to the endpoint. Once you reach Pokhara, you can suddenly see the entire perspective of nature change. Coming from the barren unearthly land to the land of green valleys and forests certainly makes you feel like entering a land of dreams.

The road route from Muktinath to Pokhara offers you majestic views of some distinct mountains, lakes, rivers, small villages, and settlements. Once you reach Pokhara, you can take your time to rest around Phewa Lake and spend some quality time in the cafes or nightclubs on the lakeside.

Drive time: 5 hours 45 minutes

  • Meals: Breakfast / Lunch
  • Accommodation: Tea house / Lodge
  • Place: Overnight stay at the Hotel in Pokhara
  • Altitude: 822 meters

Finally, it's time to return to Kathmandu after a thrilling and adventurous expedition on the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trekking route. On the 10th day, we leave Pokhara by bus which will be arranged by the Adventure Bound Nepal team. The distance between Pokhara and Kathmandu is approximately 200 km, and it takes around 7-8 hours. The mode of transportation can be upgraded to 20 minutes scenic flight with prior information to Adventure Bound team.

On your way, you can see various beauty of nature, rivers, floras, springs, waterfalls, and hills. The way back to Kathmandu will be such an amazing journey as all the trekkers will be carrying a heartful of memories and mindful of the mountains. As we reach Kathmandu, it's an official end to the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek with Adventure Bound Nepal.

Useful Information

What are the obstacles one can face during the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek?

From the first paragraph of the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek, we have been saying that the trekking route is moderately difficult, there are several obstacles that trekkers can come across while ascending. Here are a few of the major obstacles that you might find while you are ascending the Annapurna Circuit Trail:

One of the biggest or the most difficult parts of the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek is its duration. Seriously, you need to cover a total of 160km - 230 km within the 10 days duration.

The weather conditions as you reach higher altitudes can also be a major obstacle for the Annapurna Budget Trek. This is because the air becomes thinner as we ascend higher and higher and the climate becomes gradually colder.

For a lot of people or trekkers who try to go for the trail without adequate preparation and training, fatigue and tiredness can cause huge difficulty for sure.

Another dangerous thing that trekkers can face in the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek, especially after crossing 3000 meters altitude is altitude sickness.

Food and accommodation also become more and more limited as you ascend towards the topmost part of the Annapurna Circuit Camp Budget Trek.

Another obstacle that you can face during the Annapurna Circuit Camp Budget Trek is the traditional and cultural practices people follow in the Annapurna region.

Best Season to Visit the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek

The perfect seasons to visit the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek are Spring (March, April, May) and Autumn (September, October, November). Due to a lot of reasons, these two seasons are the perfect to go for any trekking or adventure in Nepal. Let us make it more clear for all the trekkers to understand:

Spring Season (March, April, May)

In the Spring season, Nepal offers you one of the best and the most pleasurable journey and experience. The sunny and brighter days after the monsoon season give birth to new floras and traveling to higher altitudes becomes somewhere around easier than in any other season. Talking about the weather, the higher part of the Annapurna Circuit might still be chilly but the temperature can be mild.

Moreover, you can also expect a clear sky offering the best view of the surrounding mountains, valleys, hills, and also the blossom of rhododendrons in the forest. In the spring season, accommodation and food also have a high range of variation as you can find most of the teahouses, guesthouses, and hotels open.

Autumn Season (September, October, November)

Another good time to go for the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek is the autumn season. Autumn in Nepal falls during October and November. In this season, you can find many other trekkers exploring this circuit trek as autumn also stands as a favourite trekking season in Nepal for many tourists and trekking enthusiasts.

Moreover, the environment is also decent offering a beautiful view of the entire Annapurna region and its stunning natural magic. However, this season might not be your favourite to go for this expedition if you love a peaceful journey. That is because, in the autumn season you will meet a lot of other trekkers on this trail.

Meals and Accommodation During the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek

If you visit the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek in the perfect season, you can expect a wide variety of food and very comfortable accommodations throughout the route. However, that might not be the case if you choose other seasons than the ones stated above. You should not forget to taste as much as possible Nepali cuisine. Adventure Bound Nepal's Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek cost package includes 3-meals throughout the journey.

For breakfast, you can expect meals like fried and scrambled eggs, tea, coffee, bread, pancakes, Nepali, and international breakfast as well. Besides, you can have a Nepali Thali Set (Daal, Bhat, Tarkari, Achaar), a Thakali Khana Set, noodles, fried rice, pasta, and much more. You can also find similar cuisines and items for dinner as well.

Talking about accommodation, Adventure Bound Nepal arranges the best (as per the location) tea houses, hotels, and guesthouses. Our guides also make sure that the teahouses provide all the facilities and contain all the amenities that trekkers require. If you go in the winter season, this might not be possible because, in that season, most of the tea houses remain closed.

Chances of Altitude Sickness in the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek

Altitude sickness is certainly one of the common problems anyone can face while ascending higher altitudes, especially in the Himalayan region. As we ascend to an altitude of 4925 meters during the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek, chances of altitude sickness certainly arise.

As you reach Upper Pisang (3300 meters), altitude sickness might slowly start catching you and if not taken care of, it can completely defeat you until you reach Manang. In that part of the trekking journey, the air becomes thinner, and the oxygen level decreases. That's why our ABC Budget Trek itinerary contains an acclimatization day in Manang.

However, you can still keep yourself safe from altitude sickness with proper training, a steady pace, and many other ways. Moreover, we also request the trekkers to listen carefully to the guide's instructions and follow them throughout the trekking journey.
