When is the Best Time?

Everest Base Camp Trek via Salleri is doable all year round. However, for the best experience, the seasons of Autumn (September to November) and Spring (March to May) are the best. The climatic condition is stable with a clear atmosphere and astounding scenery.

Everest Base Camp Trek via Salleri Difficulty

Everest Base Camp Trek via Salleri is of difficult grade. If you are a beginner then EBC trek is not a good idea at all. Even the experienced trekker may face various difficulties while on the trek. The major difficulty is Altitude Sickness as most of the time you trek above 3000m.

Another is the strenuous length and walking hours. You will walk nearly 7-8 hours per day on average covering 62 kilometers. Also, the rugged terrain and tricky weather might harden the paths. Thus, make sure to be comfortable and maintain the pace of your walk. Most important is to get enough acclimatization.

Food & Accommodation

Regarding food and accommodation, the Everest Base Camp provides basic facilities. There are a number of good teahouses en route. If you wish, you have the option of staying at luxury tea houses with better facilities.

The trek route of Everest Base Camp Trek via Salleri is similar to normal EBC trek after Phakding. In this trek, you will avoid flight to begin your trek. Instead, you will drive via Salleri and trek from villages like Ringmo, Khari Khola, and Puiyan.

When you arrive at TIA, one of our representatives will receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. A representative of Adventure bound Nepal will then drop by your respective hotel. You will have your lunch and after some rest, you can do various activities around.

You can visit the surroundings like Basantapur Durbar Square, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple). Further, you can shop trekking gears at Thamel. There are varieties of brands you can choose from.

Apart from this, you will meet your trek guide and fellow travelers. You will get your permits and TIMS card. Make sure you bring your passport, photos, and a copy of your travel insurance policy.

Your journey towards Everest Base Camp trek begins today. You will take a private vehicle from Kathmandu to Ringmo. This journey is of 8 hours of the drive where you take the path via Phaplu. This drive is beautiful as you get to witness the rural countryside parts of Nepal. The drive continues through high hills, farmlands, and narrow pathways. This drive will give a true break from your bustling lifestyle.

After you reach Ringmo, you will rest there for a while. Ringmo itself is a small beautiful settlement representing the Rai and Sherpa community. You will be walking for about half an hour towards Takshindo.

Tak Shindo is famous for an old Cheese factory that is extracted from domesticated mountain goats and yak. You must try their healthy and delicious products. Overnight stay at Takshindo!

Leaving Takshindo, you will begin your trek. You pass through Takshindo Monastery. You can visit this ancient place filled with mani, gompas and mini statues. The final point of this day is Khar Khola.

On the way, you will ascend through several Sherpa settlements, terraced fields, and forests alongside the Dudh Koshi River. You will experience the Sherpa Buddhism culture of this region. Their lifestyle and culture are unique as well as inspiring. Also, the trails have an exotic atmosphere due to diverse vegetation. You can enjoy them till you reach Khari Khola. Overnight at Khari Khola.

You begin this day by ascending various ridges and passing by small Sherpa villages. Along the way, you witness terraced farmlands within high hills. Also, the scattered settlement looks beautiful. The colorful stone houses and traditional prayer flags complement their elegance.

You can also enjoy the slight views of towering mountains. This is just the beginning as much more is to come. After 6-7 hours of ups and downs, you will reach Puiyan for overnight stay.

Puiyan is a beautiful settlement of teahouses that sits on the bottom of towering hills. It is a popular overnight stop for trekkers and climbers.

After your breakfast at Puiyan, you continue your climb and gradual ascents. Again, you pass through various ridges and villages. This is the major highlight of Everest Base Camp Trek via Salleri. You get through many beautiful villages and experience more adventure. This day too, you encounter villages like Surke and other Dudh Koshi valleys.

You pass through thick mossy forests that welcome you with their natural aroma. You also pass by a few rivers and cascades. Walking through steep rocky paths, you will reach Phakding. It is a small village in the Khumbu region with a number of guesthouses and spectacular sceneries.

Leaving Phakding, you will set off towards Namche Bazaar, a beautiful village in Khumbu. The uphill trail passes through several settlements like Zamphuti, Benkar, and Monjo.

There are numerous small shops and teahouses. You will have your lunch in one of those spots. Monjo is a great place for that. This small village lies towards the north of Phakding sidelong the Dudh Koshi.

You will cross through several lofty suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi. You will follow the trail to Jorasele. You officially enter the Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO enlisted World Heritage Site. Then begins the steep climb towards rugged trails and beautiful Khumbu River.

The snow-capped peaks like Tabuche start appearing. Enjoying the picturesque, you will ascend almost two more hours. Finally, you will reach Namche Bazaar. After a hard day, you will relax in your teahouse.

Besides, you can visit the range of shops & stores. You can buy trekking gears, general groceries, and different souvenirs. You can also enjoy local cuisines in its restaurants, coffee shops, and bars.

You are walking at an altitude greater than 3000 meters. Thus, there is an obvious risk of getting altitude sickness. For avoiding such casualty, acclimatization is the key. It doesn’t mean complete rest but exploring surroundings without stressing your body much.

Namche is a good spot for acclimatization and exploring exciting environs. On this day, you will ascend above Namche towards the Everest View Hotel. The trails are steep but not strenuous. You will enjoy this short hike of exploring Khunde and Khumjung.

Khunde and Khumjung are beautiful Sherpa settlements with local stoned houses. You can have astounding views of Mount Ama Dablam. When you finally reach the Everest View Hotel, the scenes get better. You have the splendid panoramas of Mt. Everest and Lhotse. You also can have a beautiful sunset view.

After spending some time, you will retrace your steps back to Namche overnight.

After breakfast, you will depart for another ascend witnessing the mesmerizing sunrise. Today will be another amazing day as you will cross 4000 meters. Brace yourself as you’ll be witnessing some contrasting scenery!

Walking on the rugged trails, you encounter lots of Buddhist monuments, gompas, chaitya, and stupas. There is ancient age with traditional antique design. After than comes the stone steps that take you to Mongla Pass. You will rejoice the vista like Ama Dablam standing right beside Dudh Koshi River.

Walking through lustrous forests for hours, you will reach Tengboche village. There are many fantastic sites at Tengboche. Tengboche monastery is the major highlight as it is the largest monastery in the Khumbu region. The spiritual chants and prayer will refresh and calm your body. You will also have marvelous sunset through an enchanting range of Himalayas.

Now comes the part of the trek where you come across lush alpine forests. The forest at such altitude has a unique variety of flora and fauna like rhododendron, birch, and conifers. They bloom in its natural form making the journey more pleasing.

The trail of this day includes a range of descent and uphill paths. Your trek begins with descent but right afterward comes uphill ridgeline. It is tiresome but fresh views of Taboche, Nuptse, Cholatse are awe-striking. You also come across villages like Pangboche, Debuche, and Imjja Valley. Pangboche Monastery is another highlight of the day.

You will continue the ridgeway until you reach Dingboche. The landscape appears quite barren with low shrubs. Dingboche itself is a famous grazing land over the sloppy cliffs. It is also a picturesque village with the fields of barley, buckwheat, and potatoes. Overnight in any teahouse of Dingboche.

This is another acclimatization day as you crossed over 4000 meters. The next stops are going to be higher than this altitude. This extra day will help you come up to cope up with the adverse altitude change and lesser oxygen. Dingboche is another fantastic spot for you to rest, acclimatize, and explore more.

On this day, you explore another world beyond the stone walls of Dingboche. There are several villages including Chhukung village where you get incredible Himalayan views of Lhotse, Amadablam, and Taboche.

You will then hike to the nearby Nagarjuna Hill. This famous spot is good for sightseeing and photography. After hiking for about 4-5 hours around you will be back to your teahouse at Dingboche. You can take a complete rest afterward.

You have already crossed above 4000 meters and today is the day you will be reaching 5000 meters. Your journey starts with the usual uphill ascend. But the views of mighty Himalayas become closer and more beautiful.

You walk past the valley of Dusa, the first campsite of the first successful Everest Campaign. Then, you cross a small stream and ascend to Duglha where Mt. Pumori looks prominent. The main highlight of the day is the steep moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. You have to be careful as this ascend is a tough part.

After this, you pass the ridge of Chupki Lara. This spot is a Memorial Shrine filled with colorful prayer flags and gompas. Following the spectacular mount views, you will reach Lobuche. It is a small village representing Sherpa culture and tradition. You can enjoy the breathtaking views of Nuptse, Mahalangur Himal, and Lobuche peak itself.

Brace yourself! You are so close to your ultimate destination. And this is the day you reach the Everest Base Camp. You start walking early in the morning. The trails start getting more and more admirable.

You will have an astonishing glimpse of Khumbu Glacier. Constantly moving, this greyish dormant appears like walking on the moon. After encountering this exciting part, you pass through gradual ups and downs up to Gorakshep.

Once you reach Gokashep, you will take some rest. Keeping the backpack at the lodge, you head towards Everest Base Camp. Upon reaching the top, you have the mesmerizing view of the Khumbu Icefall and slimy glaciers. You will also rejoice at the views of the immense Mahalangur range. This is going to be a lifetime memory for sure.

Overnight at Gorak Shep!

This is the ultimate day of Everest Base Camp via Salleri you reach the vantage point; Kala Pathar at 5545 meters. You will be up close with the highest peaks including Mt Everest. You will start this amazing journey very early in the morning. After all, you can’t miss the mesmerizing sunrise!

Walking for 3 to 4 hours, you will reach Kala Patthar. It is the vantage point giving the best views of magical mount ranges, Glacier, and Khumbu Icefall. Especially in the clear weather, the view is so enticing that it makes you feel like heaven. The close panoramas of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Thamserku, Ama Dablam are glorifying and eye-pleasing. Capture these beautiful that will chase you for a lifetime!

This vantage point is at a vulnerable altitude so you can’t stay there longer. The risk of altitude sickness increases. So, you will go back to Gorakshep and have your lunch. Then, you will retrace your steps back to Pheriche. Overnight at Pheriche!

After the tiresome journey of yesterday, you will have some relaxing time at Pheriche. Pheriche offers good views of mountains along with rock towers and wide fields. You will have your breakfast and start walking. This day is full of steep downhill climbs and occasional ascents too. So, this is going to be the longest day of Everest Base Camp Trek via Salleri.

You will be continuing along some busy trails. You will meet numerous trekkers, climbers, and porters. Especially in peak seasons, there is a lot of traffic. Retracing your steps, you will walk through dense forest, varying landscapes filled with diverse flora and fauna. The beautiful scenery surrounds you till you reach Namche, the busiest hub of the Everest region.

You can celebrate your accomplishments at the best restaurants and bars located there. You can enjoy various activities that you’ve missed before. Overnight in Namche.

Leaving Namche and taking along some awesome memories, you start trekking through downhill trails. This is again going to be the steep downhill climb. Yet, the trails are wild & beautiful with superb scenery. At certain points, you also need to be careful as the trails might get tricky.

You will enjoy the views of the highest mountains on the way. You will retrace your steps. You will encounter villages like Monjo, Bemkar, Phakding for sure. This part of the trek is rejoiceful as you cross several suspension bridges and Sherpa settlements.

After walking for 6-7 hours, you will reach Lukla. Luka is the gateway to Everest Region and Everest Base Camp Trek. If you have missed buying souvenirs, Lukla can be the place to fill that. Lukla has various teahouses and local shops.

Today is the day when you bid farewell to Everest Region. You will take the early morning flight from Lukla airport to Kathmandu. This is one hell of a flight that has enchanting views of the entire Everest Region. Once again, the high Himalayas appear to be magical.

The flight is about half an hour. Then, you will reach Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel. Get some rest and relax for a while. In the evening, you can enjoy the nightlife in amazing restaurants and pubs. You have many worthwhile options to spend your time in Kathmandu.
